Eileen F. Butler, 87, of Decatur, IL passed away on Wednesday (April 20, 2011) at the Eastern Star Home, Macon, IL.

A service to celebrate Eileen's life will be 1:00 p.m. Monday (April 25, 2011) at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Monday. Eastern Star service will be 11:45 a.m. Monday. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association. Mrs. Butler was born on December 8, 1923 at Honey Point Township, Macoupin County, IL, the daughter of Joseph M. and Mildred (Lewis) Selhime. She married James L. Butler on November 30, 1941 in Clayton, MO. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1987. Eileen enjoyed travelling throughout the world. Eileen worked at Macon County Title as a bookkeeper for almost sixty years, hiring in 1951 and finally retiring, due to her health in 2010. Eileen was chosen as 1969 "Woman of the Year" by the American Business Women's Association - Soya Chapter. She was an officer and first mate with Mariners Senior Girl Scouts Ship #207 in the 1960's.

She joined Eastern Star in 1967. She was Grand Lecturer of four Chapters which meant she instructed Decatur, Shelbyville, Findlay and Sullivan Chapters. She was selected as Grand Officer in 1980, Grand Representative of Montana in 1984, Grand Representative of Georgia in 1994 and was elected Grand Treasurer for the state of Illinois and served eight years in the role.

Eileen was selected as Decatur's Community Champion in May 2001 because of her lengthy association with the American Red Cross and her work with Eastern Star Masonic organization. She worked for American Red Cross payroll division in Washington, D.C. during the war 1943-1945 and then volunteered for fifty years as a first aid instructor.

Surviving are her children: Sandra L. Herndon of Kauai, HI, Michael R. (Jody) Butler of Decatur, IL, James (Annie) Savage of Nashville, TN; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Kathryn Sue, brothers: Robert, Joseph and Wayne.
